| Weekly Playing Schedule
for Improvers/Refreshers
By far the best way to improve at bridge is to play!
We'll help you do that. You can come to one (or both!) of our two
weekly supervised practice groups. At these sessions
we play social bridge but advice is available if required. These
groups both meet on Wednesdays but in different areas of London.
Our East London/City group meets in the Canary
Wharf, E14 area and our Camden/Central London group in Camden,
NW1. Everybody is welcome at either group, whichever is
the easier for you for travelling.
Both welcome new players. You do not need to have
played in a club before, you do not need a partner and there is
no need to book. In an evening session you will typically play with
and against a variety of other players and help and support will
be available as needed from an experienced tutor.
If you know the basics of bridge from family play,
or previous beginner lessons, come right ahead and join us. If you
are an absolute beginner you are
advised to do one of our weekend or weekly
courses first. Then you will be ready to join one of our
playing groups.
Bridge
at Canary Wharf
Aces Hi East,
our East London group, meets every Wednesday at Reebok
Sports Club London, Canada Square, London E14 5ER.
Arrive anytime from from 6.30pm onwards. We finish around 9.30pm
as the club closes between that time and 10.00pm. The Reebok club
is above Waitrose in the Canada Place shopping mall, directly accessible
from Canary Wharf station (Jubilee line or DLR). Underground parking
available.
This group is ideal for those who know the basics
and would like to meet others interested in social play. Simply
turn up and join an available table. Come with a partner if you
have one, but no partner necessary. Fee is £6.00 per player
per session. Host is Ned Paul.

or phone Ned on 07944 768643 for more information.
Bridge
in Camden
Our Camden
group meets for bridge every Wednesday at the Princess
of Wales pub, 22 Chalcot Road, London NW1 8LL in
Primrose Hill, a short walk from Chalk Farm northern line station.
We meet from 7.15pm.
The Princess of Wales is a pleasant pub in
a quiet (and safe) area of London. Nearest tube station is Chalk
Farm, one stop north of Camden Town on the Northern line. This
is very accessible from central London. Street parking outside is
easy and free after 6.30pm. For more details of the pub and a locality
map click here.
New players are welcome: you do not need to have
played club bridge before and novices and refreshers are encouraged
to take their first steps into club bridge with our group.
Come with partner if you have one, but single players
are paired up and everyone is guaranteed a game. Fee is £6.00
per player per session. Host is Barry Lowe.

Weekly Playing Schedule for
Duplicate Bridge
You can play duplicate bridge with us on Mondays
in Putney,
SW15 and on Fridays in Camden,
NW1. Both locations are easily accessible by tube from Central
London.
We play a full 24 board duplicate each evening, finishing
at 10.30pm or shortly thereafter. New players and visitors are always
welcome. You do not to come need a partner, we operate a host system
so that everyone who comes is always guaranteed a game.
If you have played club bridge anywhere in the world
come along and play with us. If you are not sure of your standard,
why not visit one of our social bridge evenings first see
adjoining column.
Simultaneous
Pairs
Two or three times a year both the Ruff Club Camden and
Putney Bridge Club participate in special nationwide bridge tournaments
known as Simultaneous Pairs.
In these competitions players in many different clubs
play the same deals and at the conclusion of play you receive a
printed booklet of the hands with commentary from a bridge expert.
The tournaments are scored across the internet and you can see how
you compare with other players in other clubs.
These competitions are fun, as well as a good way
to improve and are very popular. Master points are awarded
across the field by the sponsoring authority, meaning generous awards
if you do well (including for the very best the coveted natonal
or 'green' points).
These events are either charity fundraisers or raise
money towards British or English international bridge teams. To
reflect the cost of particpating a supplement is added to the normal
table money.
